PicoScope release 6.12.9

  • Added PicoScope 4444 support and Pico D9 intelligent probe interface
  • Addition of CAN FD serial decoder
  • Addition of pop-up notifications
  • Redesigned overrange safety warnings
  • Addition of new Built-in probe settings for TA325 and TA326 flex current probes
  • Improved handling of mismatched PicoScope .psdata files

Following the launch of the PicoScope 4444 differential oscilloscope, we’ve added support to enable the oscilloscope and its unique features in PicoScope 6. The most significant new feature to be added is support for the new Pico D9 intelligent probe interface, which allows a range Pico D9 probes including current probes, voltage probes and D9-BNC adaptors, to be automatically detected when connected/disconnected and set up in PicoScope 6 to the appropriate range and units.

The PicoScope software now features decoding and display of CAN FD (controller area network with flexible data-rate) data and waveforms to support the widespread adoption of the standard by the automotive industry and industrial automation. CAN FD packets can contain a maximum payload (data field) of up to 64 bytes, an improvement over the 8 byte maximum of the original CAN.

We have redesigned notification messages to make them less intrusive. The power options dialog, which appeared when devices that accept external DC power and USB power, has been replaced with a pop-up notification that no longer requires user interaction. The notification banners now slide in and out of the bottom right corner of the PicoScope window. The latest notification banner to be added informs users when and to which channel Pico D9 supported probes and adaptors are connected and disconnected.

We’ve improved the on-screen overrange safety warnings. Now, an additional overrange symbol is displayed by the axis of the channel whose range has been exceeded, along with a written message for both channel overrange (red) and common-mode overrange (yellow).

Two new current probes have been added to the list of standard probes in the Probe selection menu. The new 1000 V CAT III AC current probes, TA326 single phase flex probe and TA325 3-phase flex probe, are both based on Rogowski coil technology and feature three user-selectable current ranges of 30/300/3000 A.

We’ve also improved the way PicoScope handles .psdata files that were saved using a different device from the one they are being opened on.
