New SDK supports Raspberry Pi

Great news for software developers: now you can use all current PicoScopes and PicoLog data loggers with the Raspberry Pi. We've added new armhf beta drivers to the Pico driver repository for Linux.

Measuring atmospheric electricity with PicoScope

The Earth's atmosphere is electrically charged, the strength of the electric field varying with weather conditions. In this application note, Frank Thompson of Reading University in the UK shows how he built a field mill to measure this electric field and then used PicoScope to capture the results.

We recommend updating to the latest PicoScope 6 release for the following improvements:

  • Fixed an issue when saving to CSV did not work in German and Italian
  • Product DLLs updated to latest versions for improved reliability

Video: MATLAB example applications for the PicoVNA 106

Pico Technology’s RF business development manager, Mark Ashcroft, demonstrates two MATLAB applications written for the PicoVNA 106. The first pulls in the S-parameters and displays them at the full speed available in the PicoVNA 2 software. The second provides a simple go/no-go test for a DUT.

Faster VNA

The PicoVNA 106 6 GHz vector network analyzer is now even faster. Thanks to a recent software update, the instrument can now measure over 5500 dual-port S parameters per second. In practical terms, this leads to the following upgraded capabilities:

  • All four S-parameters at every frequency point in just 182 μs
  • A 201-point dual-port .s2p Touchstone file in less than 37 ms

PicoLog 6.1.10 released

PicoLog 6.1.10, the software for Pico data loggers, is now a stable release. These new features are now fully tested:

  • Saved .picolog files open in a new window
  • PicoLog now remembers your PDF output settings
  • Base SI exponent can be changed in table view
  • Updated kernel drivers

This version also fixes some bugs that were present in the previous release. Try it now!
