Current measurement

Post by Jag68 »

I am using TC-08 with two channel cards for DC current measurement of current around 1A.

Here is the setup I did.
Connected a 0.1 Ohm resistance in series with the DC positive wire. Also, the line side of the shunt, I connected to screw terminal of 5V input of one channel card. The load side of the shunt, I connected to the screw terminal of 5V input of second channel card. I made a common connection of the channel cards to the negative of the dc wire.
On Pico-6 software, selected Channel 1 and 2 with 5V. Added a Match channel with formula (input channel 1-input channel2)/0.1, unit chosen is Amp.

My first question is that whether my setup is right or not.
I am getting the readings of both the channels and also Math channel. I am confused about the unit of the amperage the Math channel is displaying (unable to figure out whether it is in A or mA). Seems to be in mA.

This is the first time I am using Pico data logger. Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

HI Jag68,

Could you post a diagram so that we can see your hardware setup, and a picolog data file so that we can see your software setup.

Regards,

Please note that with the TC-08 it takes 100msecs to read Channel 1 and then another 100msecs to read Channel 2, the inputs are multiplexed to a single ADC chip. Therefore using a Math channel to create the difference may provide strange results.
