Max Buffer use on 5444B

Post by dnoyeb »

Hi,
I have a 5444B which is supposed to have a 512MS buffer. However, It behaves as if it has a 256MS buffer.

e.g. at 50ms/div it will capture a max of 250MS at a sample rate of 500MS/s.
Is supposed to support 1GS/s and with the 512MS buffer this should be at least 500MS @1GS/s. But its not!?

e.g. at 100ms/div it will capture a max of 250MS at a sample rate of 250MS/s. But again, it supports 1GS/s and with a 512M buffer I would expect 500MS.
If I enable a second channel the samples gets cut in 1/2.

What am I missing?

Hi dnoyeb,

Are you using a Normal trigger?
In, order to be able to send consecutive buffers of data when triggers are repeating (with a Normal Trigger) The PicoScope needs to be sending the data from one buffer, while capturing the data in a different buffer, so it divides the available buffer memory by 2.

If you're using a Normal Trigger, then switching to a Single Trigger will give you access to all of the Buffer Memory.
