Picoscope Firmware Version

Post by RLC »

Hi,
I have several 5444D Picoscopes and can determine the firmware version using software such as PicoScope 6. The firmware version is not the same for each scope. How can I update the firmware and is there a revision log for the firmware?
Thanks

Please email support@picotech.com providing the information in the Help->About Window of PicoScope 6 with each of the scopes attached. We will then check the versions of the firmware against the serial numbers of the device.

Please note that the functional operation of the device is controlled by a file loaded into the device when the PicoScope application starts up, so all devices will be using the same version of this.

Thanks for that titbit of information. I always wondered and that explains a lot.

If the PicoScope is controlled using the API, does it use the file last loaded by the PicoScope application? Or does the API load a new file?
Thanks

The scope only contains software to manage the loading of the actual running image, it does not retain this after it is powered down.

This image file is contained in the dll and loaded into the scope when you issue the Open command in your own application, or when you start the PicoScope application. You may notice that that during this process the scope disconnects from the USB bus and then re enumerates at which point it is a full functioning device.
