433 MHz troubleshooting? (Raspberry-Strogoganoff)

Post by lugetaiga »

I tried manipulating several Maplin remote control wall plugs. I am doing everything mentioned here: https://github.com/dmcg/raspberry-strogonanoff (on a rev 1 256)

I too use the identical transmitter he mentions: http://proto-pic.co.uk/434mhz-rf-link-transmitter/.

And... nothing happens.

When I run wiringpi gpio readall, I see that gpio 0 is switched to output, so I'm presuming the software is good (which it is).

I'd want to know what the transmitter is doing, but the only receivers I have are wall sockets (that I'm aware of).
Are there any (Heath Robinson or otherwise) techniques to determining what's going on at 433 MHz that may assist me narrow down the problem?
