Phase continuity AWG of Picoscope 2205

Hi,

While testing the function generator on our 2205 today, I noticed that the phase seems to get reset when changing the frequency (or amplitude) of the sine that I'm outputting. This happened with both the function generator as well as with the AWG, at least when using Picoscope 7. Every time I changed the frequency in the GUI, there was a distinct discontinuity in the sine. Would it be possible to avoid this somehow? Maybe by using the API instead, or by directly writing to a "delta phase" register?

I'd happily upgrade to a higher model picoscope if needed, that's why I'm posting in the pre-sales advice group here. Any excuse to buy a new picoscope is a good excuse ;-)

Upgrading is always a good idea I have a 3404D-MSO and a 4444 over here.
The build in function generator is rather limited (max 4V top-top output unloaded 2V top-top 50 ohm)
I have a JDS6600 (search the interweb for about 100 euro).
Below 2 scans of the JDS6600 (20V top-top) and the bottom one the 3404D generator (2V top-top)

Thanks Bennog for sharing the screenshots, that is appreciated!
Unfortunately, the 3404D-MSO shows the same phase behaviour as our 2205A, but I expected as much.

Hi Diederik

When changing waveform setup data, all of our PicoScopes need to stop generating the old signal in order to have new settings loaded to then generate a new signal. So, unfortunately, as there is no way to do that instantaneously, you will get a lag between the waveforms.

However, if what you want to do is step through waveform increments, then the generator can be setup to this on the fly, without any lag between the waveform using 'Sweep' Mode. So, if you just want to select a different frequency with no lag once, or if you want to use the same frequency increment for many steps then you could create settings for that to be implemented by the Sig Gen.
