Pico 2204 Hardware or Software Pico 7 problem

Post by mihaidumitrescu »

Hi folks, today i had a problem with my 2204. couple of problems all at once
-Yesterday measured some injectors and ignition coils, all waveforms looked ok. I did used the attenuator to be safe etc. Today my injector waveforsm look tottaly different and ignition coils, the same. is like the software would not act as i set it.
-Second, i can't invert channels anymore. Who knows, secondary ignition waveforms are inverted so today when i press invert button nothing happens. Yesterday it work but only with the time settings pannel open, when switched to full screen or zoom little pop-up window invert wouldn't act anymore and waveform back to original.
-Also working on a 5V refference circuit on the injector i do have voltage measured by multimeter but zero to my 2204. When i turn ignition on, it does measure 12V but after it goes back to zero
Any idea why this behavior?
Thanks

Hi mihaidumitrescu,

Our T&M PicoScopes are not suitable for Automotive applications (even when using attenuators). This is why we have Automotive PicoScopes. There is still the possibility that you could have damaged your PicoScope.

I would start by just seeing if you can measure 12V from the battery continuously for a while, with both the multimeter and PicoScope.

Well, i know, but not everybody can afford the automotive series.
I thought in the first place maybe i damaged it (it happens sometimes when not paying attention nothing to blame)
but if i measured 12V it's ok, i measured injectors coils everything works regarding measuring, but as i stated previously the software might be the problem (i think) since it acts strange when zooming or open/close setting panels.
I'll try a reinstall or downgrade to Pico 6 and see if it happens again

So i did downgraded to pico 6 and automotive and no issues there regarding viewing. also scope's measuring without a problem any signal. so you guys have a bug in the 7 software

Hi mihaidumitrescu,

Sorry I had a lot to get through before I could check this post and respond.

Could you post both data files showing the difference. Could you also post a trace.xml file for the session where you used PicoScope 7 (should be in your folder here C:\Users\AppData\Local\Pico Technology\75XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX, just named "trace.xml"), then load the data file of PicoScope 6 into PicoScope 7, run the session again and then post the new trace, xml file (the previous trace.xml file will have been renamed with the latest numerical suffix, while the new trace.xml file will, again, just be "trace.xml").

Hi mihaidumitrescu,

You could put the video on to a cloud storage drive (e.g. Google Drive) and then post a link here. However, what we really need is to try and reproduce what you're seeing and then capture information about what the software is doing at the time, none of which can be done with a video.

So could you try what I suggested in my last post. If you need me to clarify anything, let me know.
