PicoLog, latest version: 99% CPU usage

Post by PeterScope »

Using PicoScope 2000, Windows 10 x64 bit:
1) PicoLog, latest version, is using 99% of CPU with only one channel enabled, with only 1 second sampling interval. If channel is disabled (not blue, but gray color) then CPU usage is 5%. Task Manager shows 6 PicoLog processes. I re-booted PC, clicked on PicoLog icon only once to make sure only one instance is running, but still CPU usage is 99% and six PicoLog processes are running (five of them use zero CPU). Insane.
2) For comparison, PicoScope (not PicoLog) is using only 5% CPU when no data and about 50% CPU when probes are connected (data is flowing). But PicoScope is capturing gazillion times more data at nanoseconds sampling intervals, etc (not one second sampling interval like PicoLog).

That should not happen.

We would recommend killing all running PicoLog processes using task manager and then clean out the AppData directory C:\Users\{UserLoginName}\AppData\Local\PicoLog , which will allow you to restart as if the software has just been installed.

1) I a) cleared the C:\Users\{UserLoginName}\AppData\Local\PicoLog directory, b) uninstalled PicoLog; and c) installed it again, to make sure there are no funny mis-installation issues.
2) There are still six (6) PicoLog processes running, five of them consume zero or 0.4% CPU, and only one consumes 5% when PicoScope 2000 is NOT connected. As soon as PicoScope 2000 is connected, the CPU usage is 99%.

Six processes is normal, 99% is not. Can you save a .picolog file when it is in this state so we can look at the setup.
