Comprehensive manual on THD

I have performed several spectrum analysis and want to determine the THD. Is there a comprehensive manual on the meaning of the different fields and how to set the values to calculate THD.

What is the meaning / definition of Spectrum peak span and how do you determine the optimal span?
What is the meaning / definition of Harmonic search bins and how do you determine the optimal setting?

I have compared measurements with a standard power quality meter but results are different and highly depending on the settings used.
