custom / linear units on logarithmic scale

Post by dougxr »

Hi,

Is it possible to set the units for y-axis of a spectrum view so that the linear values are displayed but the plot is logarithmic? I'm trying to observe some measurements for which a logarithmic plot is easier to monitor but as far as values are concerned I'm interested in the absolute values.

I know it can be converted mathematically but the task involves monitoring some real time values and trends.

Currently using PicoScope 6. If changing to PicoScope 7 will give this facility then that can be done. I have looked in the manual for PIcoScope 6, and have only just realised that 7 might be different and will check now (Oh, is there a manual for 7?).

It seems to list only decibel units as options for log scale but I thought I'd ask the question since this would be necessary for this job.

Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

Hi Doug,

I'm responding to this quite late.

Unfortunately there is no way to plot the non-referenced Logarithmic value of the Spectrum. You can modify the values in terms of slope and offset (or tabular values) using a custom Probe, but you can't implement math functions such as e^x (which you would need to remove the dB reference).
