6000E external reference clock

Post by amundas »

Hello,
I have a question on how to use an external reference clock for the PicoScope 6000E series as I have found some conflicting information.
In the datasheet it says: "10 MHz clock reference input: The scope will automatically switch to the external reference when a clock signal is detected"
While in the 6000E programmer's guide the ps6000aSetExternalClock function is documented and it seems that I should be able to select between several input frequencies.
I expect that the datasheet is correct, as the ps6000aSetExternalClock function does not seem to be implemented in the series-A API python wrapper.
Can someone confirm that a 10 MHz reference clock will automatically be used if it is supplied on the 10 MHz input at the back of the scope? Are there any API functions that can be used to control that an external reference is being used?

Thanks for any help

The external clock is automatically detected for the PicoScope 6000E series, that API call comes from the older 6000 series models.
