bad SNR of signal gen

Post by jjulich »

Hi,

Just bought the 4262 and I am getting poor performance of the signal generator (please see pic for details).

Can you use a 1X scope probe for the signal gen cable? I am, and maybe that's my problem.

I am using 16 bit effective, X10 probe on oscilloscope.

The peak at 20kHz looks odd and I wonder where it is being picked up from. Try a BNC to BNC cable rather than a scope probe for better shielding. Try also changing the frequency of the sig gen to see if the 20kHz peak moves in frequency. If it does not then try turning the sig gen off - is it still there?

I have just replicated your test with a PicoScope 4262 using a BNC cable and these are my results
