2204A breaks AMD USB 3.10 driver

Post by rret »

I have a "new barely used" 2204A plugged into a USB 3.1 port on a newer ASUS motherboard. (Using your blue cable.)
I am measuring a Leonardo Arduino's reset pin which goes from high (5V) to low (0.6V) every ~2 minutes, 15 seconds.
Once in a while, for no reason, that 3.1 port goes 'bad' and Picoscope 6 stops working and/or disappears.
When I check device manager in Windows, the driver "AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)" has a problem with it (I forget exactly what it says).
To fix, I have to delete the driver and do a 'Scan' in device driver, whereupon the driver is reinstalled correctly.
1) Does your 'stuff' (hardware/software) have a problem with a 3.1 USB port?
2) Is it better to use a 'real' 2.0 USB port that is on the motherboard?
3) Can you investigate and possibly fix the issue?
Thank you.

Can you please email support@picotech.com directly as this shouldn't be an issue. The team would need to know the actual error message on the host controller and also how you are connecting the scope to the test board including the powering arrangements. A sketch or a picture would help.
