Measurement of Humidity

Post by Ozzy »

Hello All,

Our lab currently uses a PT-104 Data Logger to monitor the temperature of our environment. It is excellent.
We've been asked to begin monitoring the humidity of our environment.

Is the PT-104 Data Logger capable of using resistance measurements to evaluate the humidity of an environment, and if so, what hardware do I require for this kind of measurement? Is there a humidity probe available from Pico Technology for the PT-104?

If it cannot be done, are there other Pico Technology products that have these capabilities?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Ozzy,

The answer to your first question is no, unfortunately, you can't use a PT104 resistance measurement to evaluate humidity.

We do have a humidity sensor, but it was intended for use with our, now discontinued, DrDaq Data Logger (which was intended for educational/hobby use, so the humidity sensor only has a +/-10% accuracy). If you want to perform temperature accuracy compensation due to relative humidity levels, in order to increase the validity of a high accuracy temperature measurement made by the PT-104 then, if you perform an internet search, you are likely to find a more suitably accurate humidity probe.

Hi All

I am currently using TC-08 monitoring air temperature but i also need to monitor the humidity is there any particular Thermocouple i should be using as iam struggling to find one.

thankyou for your time.

You can not measure the humidity with a thermocouple.

You need a special humidity sensor.

Most are digital the below one you can get in 0-5V or 0-10V
