analog offset on picoscope 5000 series

Post by azami »

Hello,

I would like to know if i can add an analog offset of -1V on channel A (or B) and what is in this case the input signal range?
Thanks

Hello,

the offset that you can apply is of course dependent on the selected range.
The odd thing with offsets is that it is not shown on the scaling.
So a -1V offset in the +/-2V range shows you a -1V value when the input is zero. (with effective -1 to 3V measurement range shown in a +/-2V display.

The alternative way is to define a custom specific probe.
E.g. for measuring the startup of a 31V power supply in the +/-20V range of the scope (1:1 input) you can define a custom specific probe showing a measurement range from -4 .. 36V (with a effective offset of -16V).
See example on a PS5444A.

with best regards

Andreas
