Lack of initial accuracy in TA018 current probe

Post by Sergio Gonzalez »

Hello,
I have recently bought a TA018 Picotech Current Probe through RS, a type of probe that fits in principle quite well to my needs (measuremente of AC/DC currents in the range 0.1 to 60 A and frequencies under 20KHz).
Just after first use in the DC range of 0.5-4A I have seen errors well over the +/-2% specified in the accompanying leaflet of the probe, in the order of (over) 6% over the exact value (measured using a Fluke 189 and making sure the zero reading is well adjusted).
Can anyone provide either a basic schematic of the inside electronics so I can recalibrate or just a set of instructions to adjust the internal electronics for a better reading? (+/- 2% typical for most ranges).

Thanks, best regards

Hi Sergio,

I apologse for the delay in getting to your query. In the rush of catching up with the backlog of queries from the holiday break this got overlooked.

As this is a procedural issue, could you send this in to support@picotech.com and mark it for my attention. I will then deal with this as quickly as I can.

Regards,
