RPI and PICOLOG - headless setup

Post by sdbr »

Is it possible or are there any plans to implement following:
Enable minimum of control (start, pause and stop recording) to the PICOLOG app (via SSH, http server or whatever) so we could control it even without a monitor, keyboard etc.
That would come very handy, especially on Raspberry PI. For now, the only solution for this that I can think of is to use some remote desktop solutions, and it works well on desktop machines, but is fairly slow on RPI.

Hi sdbr,

I will submit a feature request to our development team regarding this feature.

In the meantime, or as an alternative, 2 of our loggers (PT104 & CM3) have an 8P8C (referred to as RJ45) connector for Ethernet, and you can add Ethernet (or Wireless Ethernet) to others by using a wired or wireless USB hub (such as this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silex-600-USB- ... way&sr=8-1), and simple setup procedure. If you then download our Software Drivers for Raspbian (from here: https://www.picotech.com/downloads/linux), and example code for basic data acquisition (from here: https://github.com/picotech) then you can develop your own application to apply single button, headless control to your data acquisition application.
(Note, the latest drivers will need Raspbian Buster).

Regards,
