TC-08 draws excess voltage for USB hub

I already posted that my just-out-of-box TC0-08 is not working at all--no light illuminated on device, no indication that operating system sees the new device when connected. But I tried to connect to a different computer and I received the message: "Power Surge on Hub Port-a USB device device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port".
I assume it means there is some kind of short in the device--does anybody have a different thought?

It does sound as if something is wrong.

Please email support@picotech.com stating where you bought the unit, and where you are located, they will follow up on this.
