Could you please confirm the model of the device you are using - there should be a label on the underside.
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the PicoLog (5.23.0) or PicoScope 5 (5.21.2) software.
Do you have a serial port on the Windows PC or are you using a USB to Serial Converter? If it is the latter, please ensure that the converter is assigned with a sensible COM port number (e.g. COM 3) in the Windows Device Manager.
If you are using a product with a 25-pin parallel port connector to the PC, then the product will not work with a 64-bit operating system.
