Re: DB9 extension cable for 4444 ?

Thanks for reply Gerry. "Higher than UART" only meant to convey that I don't think some of these inexpensive serial DB9 extension cables are a good choice. Attenuation will happen before the extension cable so let's say 50V as the scope is limited to that. We have the terminals to crimp our own D-su...

DB9 extension cable for 4444 ?

Hi Forum. I need 3m ( 10' ) DB9 extension cable to locate scope in a nice environment for some tests. I suppose any "straight through" DB9 extension cable will work for low voltage, low frequency stuff but perhaps there is something that uses Belden 9271 or is rated for higher voltage than typical U...

Re: DC measurement error on 4444

Hi Forum. I just took delivery of reference device ( DMMCheck Plus ) which is capable of 5VDC & 5VAC (100Hz RMS square wave). On a DMM it seems easy: 1-ensure correct operating temperatures and stabilization of reference device 2-zero/offset for leads to be used for test 3-measure I understand the a...

Assorted mask limit testing questions

Hi Pico forum. I'm looking to create masks based on specifications rather than generate from traces. Picoscope User's Guide mentions edit box, but I'm unable to find this option anywhere in Picoscope ( latest version, stable and beta ) ? Mask file appears to be markup so I can generate a template ma...

Re: Picoscope 6 toolbar configuration ?

On the subject of display scaling, I also think that the measurement table should do a better job of utilizing the available space to display values ( whatever the Grid Font Size ). I tried once again to attach a good screenshot showing columns with .... instead of full values ( Min, Max, Standard D...

Suggestion: auto-enable channels with connected probes

Hi Pico. Since the 4444 detects and displays notifications of whatever probes or adapters I connect to it, why can't it default to or provide the option to enable whatever channels have something connected to it ? Seems logical that if somebody is connecting something to a channel that intend to use...

Visualizing PWM (mean) voltage ?

Hi Forum. I'm sure there is an easy way, but I'm missing it. Want to see the mean of a PWM signal such that Picoscope is showing the same as a DMM set to VDC. Ideally this voltage is shown graphically along with the PWM signal itself although it also would be useful to see in Measurements table at b...

Re: Picoscope 6 toolbar configuration ?

On the subject of problems with scaling, I've tried to attach a screenshot showing how small the cursor is at 225% scaling. It is impossible to see what function ( e.g. zoom in/zoom ouit ) is selected. But the forum has a limit of 256KiB so my 355 KiB file cannot be uploaded. Perhaps Pico is already...

Human heartbeat example for 4444 ?

Hi Forum. I'm trying to get similar results to those shown at https://www.picotech.com/library/oscilloscopes/rejecting-common-mode-noise-in-oscilloscope-measurements . Using 441 with red lead in hand and black in the other the best I can do is attached which has 13Hz lowpass filter in addition to 20...

Understanding "zero offset" and its use with 4444 ?

Hi Forum. Not clear to me how I short-circuit differential inputs. With 441 for example, is it with differential inputs or is the ground clip involved ?

Re: Picoscope 6 toolbar configuration ?

Hi Hitesh. Thanks for responding. I think my tablet with 12" 2160x1440 resolution is quite representative of the playing field for what is a useful display for Pico so hopefully you will implement. In the interim, there is hotkeys.

Picoscope Windows 10 scaling issues and related

Hi Pico. Configuration is Samsung Galaxy Book 12" tablet at 225% scaling ( needed for my eyes) running Windows 10 with a 4444. Some zoom controls are off-screen to right. Is there anything I can do to a config file manually to choose what items appear in top toolbar as I don't e.g. "Home", "Auto Set...

Re: Custom protocol decoders ?

Good stuff lab!fyi. Just read about the CLI stuff in Picoscope 6 User's Manual. I'm still hoping to get a response from Picoscope on the following questions from this thread: The other possibility is leveraging something like sigrok which I think makes all the sense in the world given the protocols ...
