Re: Using Picoscope to decode DCC signals ?

So I'm still wondering...

has the Accumulate capability just been eliminated completely? That would explain why Clear would be removed.

It doesn't explain though why a useful capability would be removed. Or, does it just Accumulate all the time now? If so, how does a Clear occur?

Re: Timespan of Rapid Captures

This is a limitation set by the PicoScope 6 software... I've heard this explanation quite often, in this Forum. An artificial limitation, set by the software. To protect the users from themselves. Engineers and scientists, who should be able to make such choices for ourselves. If slower timebases w...

Re: Problem with CAN-decoding

Digital lines can be used for serial decoding although the signals have to adhere to the specified voltage limits. Dr. Nicolas, one of the great things about the Picoscopes, and being able to see the serial-bus signals in the analog domain, while still decoding them, is that you get to see what's h...

Re: Serial decoder data not shown when analog subview is off

I reported before that the cursor window with the times disappears when you switch off the analog subview. From the reply I gathered this is a known bug. Now I notice that also my serial decoder data (i.c. UART) disappears when I switch off the analog subview, but have the digital subview enabled. ...

Re: LIN decoding not reliable

Unfortunately, data files saved with one version of PicoScope 6 are not backwards compatible with older versions i.e. it is not possible to open a data file saved with PicoScope 6.10 with PicoScope 6.8. That is a bit surprising. Is it really necessary to break compatibility at the file-interface la...

Could you comment on the reason why? I.e., one might think that Accumulate and Clear would be useful to have, so why are they considered no longer necessary?

Thanks!

Re: Measurement in Scope mode

Hi Solaris. The way I am reading this, each segment is capturing a 1 sec burst of data. And currently, it is retriggering 'immediately' (well, about 250 ms gaps), so all the segments are back-to-back. And what you would like to do is space them out, so that those 32 one-second bursts are evenly dist...

Multiple Protocol Analysis (and SPI deficiency)

Pico6 has the enviable capability to handle as many protocol decoders as the instrument has channels. While other self-contained scope products with decode capabilities are far more limited. Most being limited to just two, with a few capable of 4, and some only 1. This is a powerful advantage for th...

Re: Rapid Trigger Mode--Questions

Now that we finally have some solid information on how slowly re-arm times degrade with slower sample rates (which is a good thing), here: https://www.picotech.com/support/post57021.html#p57021 let's return to this topic again, after a month has gone by. The remaining question that still hasn't been...

Re: Fastest way of capturing data

Martyn, thanks for the informative response. A sample rate of 10MS/s would suggest that you are looking at 1MHz clocked data, possibly 2MHz, to give a good representation of the signal. Now consider how many samples it would take to cover your bit stream, and you are likely to still be in the low KS...

Re: Custom Decoder

As we have mentioned before we have re written the serial decoding engine from the ground up, after uncovering issues when we tried to implement custom serial decoding on the previous version. I do recall that. And I am happy to see the new decode engine is operational in the 6.11.4 Beta. Until thi...

Re: Fastest way of capuring data

To ask the them to provide additional figures to cover all timebases, and all scope models , would take them away from more important work... Thanks for setting up a straw man. Did you enjoy knocking him down? I haven't seen anyone asking for "all timebases, and all scope models" . That may i...

Re: Regarding j1939 and J1708

tydix, How to recognise if CAN bus is j1939 or j1708 using Picoscope. First off, J1708 is not a CAN bus, nor is it compatible with a CAN bus. Perhaps you simply meant "vehicle bus", which both J1708 and CAN are (and J1939 is only one of many CAN protocols that can appear on a CAN bus). Andrew is cor...

Re: Fastest way of capuring data

Thanks for participating in the discussion, Martyn. It is not true that we don't know the inter gap time, OK. Even though Fabian reported yesterday that someone at Pico told him you didn't know. I'm glad to hear that you do. but it is true that it varies depending upon the setup of the scope, and al...
