Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Hi Juan, To give you a more likely scenario to your question, it depends upon upon exactly where he's taking the measurement. If he's measuring the live connection of a mains power supply (which would be the obvious choice) then he's probably using a suitably CAT rated Differential Probe to measure ...

Re: power factor paradox

Hi frog,

Your measurement of Instantaneous Power is wrong, it should be DC Average, not True RMS.

Re: 400 kHz DC ripple signal of 80 mV, need to see diff. of

Hi linuxfan, In the image that you posted the noise traverses up to 2 step sizes, so the smallest ripple that you could reliably detect would be one that traverses 4-bits, which means that you have a worst case of 6-bits of effective resolution. To detect a 1% ripple you would need 7-bits of effecti...

Re: Picoscope 6 installation fails on Win10 with 1152: error

Hi Uwe, This is a known issue, that is linked with Windows 10 (and the latest update). We are currently looking into this and will be uploading a version once we have resolved it. If you have any more issues like this then the best place to deal with them would be our help desk (support@picotech.com...

Re: Reference Waveform Delay

Hi Alex, The issue with the delay control is to do with the initial entry, so you just need to readjust the value. If you just type in your required delay and hit return then, when the delay jumps to a non requested value just delete up to the decimal point, type in 25, then delete after the decimal...

Re: 5444D MSO + viewing/saving waveforms

Hi Ian, Unfortunately for the 5000D MSO's there is an issue when setting up the analog and digital channels in particular sequences. However, you can either use a non-intuitive way to set it up, or you can just load in a setup file. I've chosen the easy route and below is a setup file you can use wi...

Hi Alex,

Could you post you're psdata file so that we can see what you have setup.

Re: Count Event Rate Below Threshold

I answered the same query on our help desk, so I'm posting a revised answer here, for the benefit of other forum users: It is possible to set the Timebase to 10ms/div and the Number of Samples to maximum to give you a sample interval of 1ns, and use these values to capture 20ns wide pulses. As menti...

Re: Continuous SPI logging with 3206 MSO

Hi Zabooh, The answer to your question ultimately depends upon how much data you need to capture at a time, and how fast. For more data than your available short term storage (RAM) at typical SPI data rates the answer is, unfortunately, no. Our SPI decoding is only available in our PicoScope 6 Softw...

Re: Temperature sensor question

Hi Hominid, The signal conditioning file is not the way to go here. It's a feature intended to be used for sensors that can't use the existing input setup (with pull-ups) for excitation, and need the input signal to be more than just adjusted (e.g. for signals that need amplification so that they ar...

Re: Audio filter test & measurement with the 2204A - PART 1

Hi Glovisol, You have created a number of very useful, cost-effective, measurement applications, with surprising accuracy (considering the equipment used) and with intuitive, in-depth descriptions of how to perform the measurement, typically with the science behind the measurement. So, many thanks f...

Re: ADC 212/3 Power LED and Virtual Machine

Hi Ian,

OK, but if you have no parallel port equipped machine, what is supplying power to the ADC 212/3. Do you have a parallel to USB adapter, or are you using something else?

Re: Temperature sensor question

Hi Hominid, You need to search for a 100kΩ NTC thermistor with a low enough temperature range,to give you a range of options, e.g. https://eu.mouser.com/Circuit-Protection/Thermistors/NTC-Thermistors/_/N-axfvt?P=1yzotm4Z1z0z7l5. Once you have the thermistor you can then connect it across pins 1 and ...

Re: Measuring 4-20mA; TC-08 & Single-Channel Terminal Board

Hi Martin, The question is what are you doing with the reference voltage (Gnd) from the excitation source (the supply for the flow meter)? If any voltage that you're applying to the TC-08 terminal board exceeds +/-7V then the channel is pulled out of common range of the TC-08, which means all of the...

Re: ADC 212/3 Power LED and Virtual Machine

Hi Ian, How are you powering the ADC212/3 when the LED is blinking off? It can be tricky enough getting a Pico product to work successfully with a VM, (even with the same bit size host). There are issues such as the VM needing to be setup to have transparent access to the hardware USB port. The issu...
