Re: Problems with resistance measurement of the USB DrDAQ -

The new version for PICOLOG ( VER. r_5_24_2) appeared on Feb. 5th. After installation I did a preliminary test and RESULTS ARE EXTREMELY GOOD SO FAR. Readings are to 3 decimal places. I tested the range 1 KOhm - 10 KOhm. From the KOhm readings obtained, I inserted the following Reference Table. 1.38...

Re: WARNING - EXCEL FILES POSTED BY Glovisol for the DrDAQ

Hi Karunen, I should think so too and am inclined to agree, however I wrote this warning because, while in South Africa, a friend of mine downloaded the Excel file for the PSU and it did not work until he realised he had to modify the built-in formulas. Could you pse download the PSU file & check? K...

Re: Problems with resistance measurement of the DrDAQ - UPD

Hi Hitesh,

Very many thanks for your good news. I shall look closely for the Picolog/SDK update.

WARNING - EXCEL FILES POSTED BY Glovisol for the DrDAQ

The following problem has come to my attention. When writing EXCEL files I am using the Italian version of Excel , where commas are used in places of dots and vice-versa. This can pose problems to users downloading the files and opening them with the English version of Excel . EXAMPLES The voltage o...

Re: Universal buffer for the DrDAQ ERRATA CORRIGE

I picked up a further error in the diagram: connections to EXT.2 and EXT.3 inputs were omitted. The corrected diagram with added connections in VIOLET is enclosed. Apologies again.

Re: The DrDAQ HV PSU - CLOSING THE LOOP

PSU Design principles.jpg For loop control an additional Op Amp is required, to act as error amplifier. Since I did not have another spare amp in the Buffer, I decided to use a twin amp LM358, where one would be the comparator and the other the error amp. In this way the spare Buffer Amp became fre...

INPUT PADS FOR THE DrDAQ

Input pad calculator.xls What follows may be obvious to those used to software oscilloscopes, but may be helpful to oldtimers who used cathode ray types all their life. Comparing the DrDAQ input range to that of previous generation conventional graticule oscilloscopes, one of the most obvious diffe...

The DrDAQ HV PSU - Weekend special

PSU Schematic.jpg PSU 1 - DC 95.jpg PSU 3 - DC 10.jpg PSU 0 - Linear UpRamp.jpg This is an example of the notable versatility of the DrDAQ in the lab: the unit, complete with its buffer and a few extra components out of the junk box, let me build the prototype of a 400 hz Switch Mode supply in a Sa...

Power consumption of the DrDAQ

The DrDAQ is fed by the + 5V (nominal) of the USB interconnection with the companion PC. Strangely enough (I may be mistaken by oversight) Pico Technology does not specify anywhere what is the current consumption of the device. Here below I give typical measurement data taken on my own DrDAQ. USB vo...

Re: Universal buffer for the DrDAQ - Further information

Working in the lab with the DrDAQ + Buffer combination, I found the following. 1) To avoid unused channel overload by stray noise it is advisable to load any Buffer's unused input with a 1 KOhm resistor. This is easily done by mounting the resistor on the terminal board between input to be loaded an...

Re: 3d printing data for case?

The DrDAQ has no housing at all: this is clearly illustratedin the sales/tech literature. The bottom of the PC board is protected by an adhesive mat of insulating material. The design and build of a special case could be a worthwhile project.

Re: Universal buffer for the DrDAQ-ERRATA CORRIGE

On a routine verification of the schematic of the Universal Buffer I REALISED THERE IS A MISTAKE in VERSION 2 OF 12.12.2014. PINS 2 & 3 OF THE NE555 IC1 ARE INTERCHANGED. I have now amended the schematic drawing VERSION 2.4 of 24.12.2014 and inserted this schematic in the original post. I apologise ...

Universal buffer for the DrDAQ

EasyCapture1.jpg Closeup buffer board.JPG Complete system.JPG All considered the DrDAQ is an amazing piece of equipment. In a small package, practically the size of a credit card, together with the Pico supplied software, it packs an Oscilloscope/Audio Spectrum Analyser, a PH /Oxygen meter, a Multi...

.DDS Files for LINEAR/EQUATION SCALING

I note we are all still in the dark about the possible application of linear and/or equation scaling in .DDS files. Even the discovery it is not yet possible to use DrDAQ in this mode would be of advantage.

Re: .DDS Files - Linear scaling and equation scaling

Dear Martyn, Many thanks for your examples. However I have been unable to make them work as .DDS files. Even using the Autodetect Resistor, they are not recognized as valid files and no change in name/unit etc. appears when you open Picolog. Perhaps your examples are too concise and I miss essential...
