Ok, I pulled down picoSDK-C-examples-master and downloaded visual studio community edition.
I had to retarget but both included apps built correctly!.
Haven't tried to run it yet, but that should give me a good starting point.

Windows platform, I should allow 32 and 64 bit. I'm looking at the output of a PicoScope based Gamma Ray Spectrometer. I've not worked with this before but I need to make some measurements that aren't conventional. Is there a template or example application that I can use as a starting point? I find I do better if I can modify something that already works rather than starting cold. This would be a PC project, using ...

Can you confirm that you have tried different ports on the PC, a different USB cable, and that the hardware drivers specifically for the USB hubs are up to date with those specified by the PC manufacturer. I just ran across this because I was searching for answers for the same issue. I am running W10 with all updates, using the blue Picoscope cable, on my desktop USB3 port. The scope SW keeps running, but every few minutes I get the "check USB cable" message. PS 2204A and it was calibrated on 1/22/18....
