For the price the hardware is great. The software is good and capable of being great. We demoed a Rigol MS05354 (slightly better on paper) but the physical interface wasn’t great and neither was the USB interface to a computer. The PicoScope software allows fairly easy manipulation of all the hardware settings but the real advantage is the deep memory and the ability to capture the data right on the PC. If you only use a scope for seat of the pants debugging and never need to record actual data then most of the benchtop models would work well. Having said that, it would be nice if the software allowed you to manually enter the range for the X and Y axes, change the label for each channel, and choose what elements of the screen are included when you print the screen. Haven’t had enough time to really dig into all the feature but as of right now I’d highly recommend the 6404D.

It is good tool but it is necessary to increase the buffer capacity. The maximum 32 is really not enough.

We have been using Picoscope 6404D for quite some time, and are amazed by its accuracy and powerful emulations while working with numerous signal evaluations. The compatibility of this device with various EDA tools and software environment is appreciable. The device is easy to operate, cumbersome in space utilisation and highly useful and recommendable for any signal processing compilations and hardware design simulations.

Happy customer
I usually do not write reviews, but decided to take a bit of my time just to say that the 6407 in our lab is the BEST PIECE OF EQUIPMENT BY FAR!!!

It is simply amazing. Well done for a very good product!

Perfect Partner for Development of Encoder controlled Stepper Motor Actuators.
The 6403B/6404B or the current 6404D/C are the perfect partner for development of encoder controlled stepper motor actuators.

This type of device helped me a lot to develop the required hardware and software for rotation valves driven by own stepper motor driver circuitry with a encoder to find every valid positions in real-time in high speed.

Finding the best methods and filtering techniques for analyzing the encoder’s gaps and fixing the time offset caused by small but non-avoidable interrupt and software latency would never been possible so safely for whole encoder rotations in high accuracy with simpler DSOs with much less and non-segmented memory.

Since the included software is really stable, this type of device is a great tool for great tasks!
