Hi,everyone,
I am a freshman of electronics.
Here is some questions about your products:
(1) Voltage ranges: does ±100mV (for 3206) mean that the resolution of one scale is 10 mV?
(2) What is the difference between the sample bandwidth (200Mb/s for 3206) and Repetitive signals (10Gb/s for 3206)? We have an oscilloscope of TDS2022B with sample bandwith of 2 GB/s. Compared to TDS2022B,which one is better according to the sample bandwith?
(3) With 3206 and the software installed in laptop, is it possible to do any frequency spectrum analyzer? If yes, what is the minmum and maximum frequency?
(4) And is it possible to trigger the input signal with himself when i use it to measure a fast signal with repetition rate of 100 MHz and pulse duration of 1ns?
(1) On an 8 bit scope +/- 100mV range the LSB of resolution will be just under 1mV. (200/256=0.78mV)
(2) The 3206 has a single shot sample rate of 200Msamples/sec and a repetitive sample rate of 10Gs/sec. Is the sample rate for the TDS2022B single shot or repetitive? See tutorial for further explanation.
(3) The 3206 will display a frequency spectrum from 0 - 100 MHz.
(4) You are not going to be able to see a 1nS pulse let alone trigger from it on the 3206. The analogue bandwidth of both the probe and scope are far too low.
1/ Yes, analogue bandwidth of 200MHz is available on all ranges. The single shot sampling rate is reduced from 200M samples/sec for one channel to 100M samples/sec for each channel when two chanels are used.
2/ Input impedance is 1M ohm in parallel with 20pF. A 10:1 probe has a series resistor of 9M in parallel with a variable trimmer of about 4pF. That gives you a 10:1 resistive divider and an approx 10:1 (but variable) capacitative divider. The trimmer is used to adjust the response to square wave edges and high frequency measurements.
Impedance matching is important at high frequencies. If you are measuring RF coming from a 50ohm system, the 50 co-ax lead must be terminated at the scope end in a 50ohm load. Easiest way is to use a 50ohm "T" piece (BNC) to connect the lead and the load to the scope input. The 1M input impedance of the scope will have no effect on the measurement (1M >> 50ohm).
3/ Trigger modes of the 3206 are:-
Free Run, Auto, Repeat, Single and Save To Disk On Trigger
