Method of Measuring 20-bits of CAN message

Post by SamSensata »

Hi Guys,

In my current job role I'm setting up a test which involves the measurement of the time scale of 20-bits of a CAN frame. This must be done 100 times for each DUT and must be done across three temperature ranges (meaning manual testing involves around 600 measurements lol).

I was hoping I could use my pico scope (500 series) and set it up to decode for a specific CAN frame ID, measure the total pulse width taken by 20-bits and set this up to run automatically.

I'm clutching at straws, but have turned to this forum to see if anyone has any idea if/how this could be done.

I've been playing around with my pico scope and I don't see a direct or simplistic method of achieving this.

Cheers

If you can create a trigger that will reliably pick up the 20 bit can packet on the display, then using the mask feature to would allow you to see if this goes outside limits.

Unfortunately it is not possible to trigger on specific CAN data, so setting up the trigger may be the difficult part.
