PicoLog problem on Windows Vista?

Post by Keith Saxon »

Hi Guys,

I've just tried a few times to install the latest version of PicoLog on a brand-new laptop mounted with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Problem is, I can't find PicoLog or even its containing folders!

Things I've tried so far:
  • Searched with Vista search, and manually of course
  • Installed to a different directory, i.e. c:\pico
  • Installed to this computer and any computer
  • Used the Programs control panel applet to check th einstalled program list, PicoLog wasn't there
  • I'm logged in as an Administrator
Has anybody else had this? Is it yet another 'undocumented feature' of Vista? Or did I miss something? All the other software I've installed has worked fine. My Vista is 32 bit of course.

If I can help test PpicoLog on Vista then do tell, but HELP!

Cheers,

Keith . . . D'Oh! :

Here's the error message from the InstallShield Wizard (that I didn't notice before) that pops up to tell me that the installation was interrupted:
The wizard was interrupted before Pico Technology Software could be completely installed.

Hi and thank you for your post.

Windows Vista will install you Pico Technology Folder in under your profile so:

c:\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\

You will need to install as a Supervisor.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Sorry, that didn't work. When I read the installer's error messages properly, it actually rolls back the install and quits sayiong that it was interrupted.

I got PicoLog working by basically copying the full Pico folder across from another machines HDD . . . But of coourse this didn't help me use my TC08 USB loggers as I don't know where the drivers are.

Can I just download the drivers from anywhere? Or can somebody tell me what the driver filenames are so that I can go looking for them?

Cheers,

Keith

Hi and thank you for your post.

The roll back issues is known on some computers and will be resolved on the next release of our software.

Ah right, thanks. Glad it wasn't just me doing something dumb, that being the cause of many of my woes.

I'll just carry on with the old laptop for then.

Thanks,

Keith

Please note the following with regard to Vista

Using Pico Products With Windows Vista

Existing software for the majority of products will work with Windows Vista as long as the user is logged in as an Administrator. Exceptions include Enviromon and PicoScope 3223, 3224, 3423 and 3424. Help files are not compatible.

In the next software release in March 2007 all products will be compatible including PicoLog and PicoScope help files. Not compatible will be the Enviromon help files and product specific help files which will be updated in subsequent releases.
