unit not found

Post by TimminsG »

Hello,

I have a Picoscope 5000 scope and Picoscope 6 software.

I am using the excel demo application provided with the CD as a quick start to communicate with my pico with external application.
My picoscope is powered on and I have started the picoscope 6 software.
I have placed the dll at the correct place as recommended on the excel sheet.

However when I run the application by clicking on "Get Block", the instruction "ps5000OpenUnit" returns "0" which means according to instruction manual "unit not found".
Is there something particular to be done so that the unit is found?

Thanks for your help
Guillaume

You are using the wrong examples and drivers, you need to use the 5000a ones, not the 5000 ones which are for the older discontinued devices.

Thanks for this info.

Unfortunately, my CD does not contain any examples in the ps5000A folder (I have only the dll)
I also tried to download them from this site but I was not able to find them.

I will try to set up something using programmer's guide but it will be easier if I can get some examples.

Examples attached, select the one to match your excel version. You need to have installed the SDK, and may need to point the code at the driver location.

If you require code for another language let me know.

Many thanks, in the meantime I found and installed the SDK with the examples for excel and other languages, I may try several languages to find which suits me the best.
