RS422 interface

Post by uarter20 »

Hi,
how to decode a Rs422 Signal which is purely NRZ-L encoded (without any start bit, stop bt, parity bit).
Currently the start bit cannot be deactivated, and this destroys the whole decoding stream.

Thanks a lot.

Hi uarter20,

Could you explain exactly how you would be delimiting the bytes of your data. Also, are you using some other method of synchronization, such as pins (otherwise how would you be able to prevent the timing between Tx and Rx from drifting out of sync during a long transmission).

Our current Uart decoder has no provision for specifying the size of the gap between data bytes, and no way of synchronizing to the transmitted data using a separate clock, so there would be no way of telling where a byte starts without a start bit. That is why you can't disable the start bit.
