Outdoor Temperature Monitor

Post by pritchie »

Please can you recommend a solution for the following requirement (we have our eye on the EL-001, but please advise...)

- To measure external air temperature, -10 to +60 degrees minimum range.
- ideally an IP65 rating, but we could put it in a box I suppose (unless the sensor can be extended up to 30m+)
- RS422/485 interface
- Please could you send me the handbook for your recommended solution?
- preferably separate AC or DC supply.

Many thanks,
Peter.

Hi Peter,

If you need a standalone temperature logger then I recommend the EL005 (datalogger) with an EL001 (temperature converter) and an EL015 (temperature sensor). We sell an EnviroMon starter kit which includes all of this.

http://www.picotech.com/e_starter_kits.html

The enclosure of the EL005 and EL001 is not IP65 rated so you will have to put them in your own boxes. The interface for the EL005 to the PC is RS323, the interface between the EL005 and EL001 is NOT RS422/485 although it is similar in operation. The EL005 has internal rechargable batteries as well as a DC power suppy.

If you email me your address I can send you some literature.

Best regards,

Ric

Ric,
Thanks for your reply.
I believe I read something somewhere about an IP65 kit for the EL001? Is this available? Please send some literature to peter.ritchie@s3sat.com (only if it is different from what is available on the web - if you can send me a handbook in pdf, that would be great).
Thanks,
Peter.

Hi Peter,

I'm afraid we no longer do the IP65 enclosure. The best source of information is our website,

http://www.picotech.com/enviromon.html

You can also download the EnviroMon manual in pdf format here,

http://www.picotech.com/document/document.html

Let me know if you have any more questions or if you want to place an order.

Best regards,

Ric
