Multiple realtime views while recording

Post by d431hood »

I'm new to the software so I may have missed how to do this...

While recording (Picoscope 3404A) I need to be able to display a long term view (2-3 minutes worth) of a complex wave form along side an updating view of the last 0.5 seconds. Using the zoom function only allows me to see the part of the X-axis selected and doesn't seem to be able to track the wave form front end.

So two views, each with a different time base.....

TIA

Hello,

You can't setup two views with difference time bases, you could try the following-

1. Setup two views.
2. Connected you signal and select a suitable voltage range.
3. Set the trigger to 'repeat' click and drag the trigger diamond to the top right in one of the views.
4. Click on one of the views to select it.
5. Type in the zoom factor in toolbar (next to time/div pull down menu)
6. In the zoom overview, drag the zoom square to right hand end of the box. (click in middle of the zoom square)

Unfortunately in my application with a full x axis scale of several minutes the zoom is only populated for a fraction of a second and then disappears, only to be blank again.

If its not possible now could this functionality be considered for a future uplift to the system?

Could you try the file attached-
rolling trace with zoom iamge
rolling trace with zoom iamge
The zoomed section will be drawn as a thick line until the scope is stopped (as above).
This is a known issue. (The software is drawing less points with the aggregated/down sampled data points)
rolling trace with zoom.psdata
rolling trace with zoom

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the file, I've just tried it.

I don't know what if anything was different in the file from the outcome of the process you detailed in your previous post, but the effect was the same. So unfortunately it didn't solve my problem and didn't display both the long term trend and the short term detailed performance in real time.

Any other ideas?

TIA
