number of samples

Post by cristina »

I want to register in picoscope a signal from a generator with a definite frequency. After that, i take the signal to matlab to make with it a fast fourier transform. My problem is that i can´t specify exacly the number of samples in Pico, that means the time between samples is different from what you espected and therefore this fact changes your Nyquist Frequency if you want to make an analysis in frequencies.
What can I do?
thank you

Hi Cristina

Thank you for your post.

The only way you can specifiy the number of samples is to either set the number of samples per scope trace in the advanced settings options, or use Picolog.

I would advise that Picolog is the easiest way to set the number as Picoscope may still have to change the number slightly.

The other option would be to write your own software to acquire the data.

Hope this helps

Best Regards

Time Between Samples

Post by Autonerdz »

Hi Christina,

You might find the sample rate calculator I have useful for calculating actual sample rates as well as time between samples for various settings of samples and screen time. It's accurate to within a few samples. You can find it here:
