when reading single values into EXCEL on an open-curcuit channel widely varying values are obtained.Is there a way of detecting an open circuit channel

Thank you for your post.

The channels on the ADC-11 will float unless connected to something or grounded. Therefore you would need to work with this to see if there was an open circuit. Unfortunately I do not know of any ways to detect an open circuit however if you develop one then do let us know.

When sampling same open circuit in Picolog the same wild variations are not recorded only slight noise.Any idea how that was achieved?

Thank you for your post.

I cannot think of a reason as to why it should vary this much when open circuit. However I would suggest that so long as the results when grounded and reading in signal are steady then there is nothing to worry about.
