Post by Guest »

is the ground of the picoscoop 3204 floating to the earth of my pc? Because I need to measure some voltages but therefor I need to connect the ground to one of the mains contacts.

Hi

Thank you for your post.

The PS3000 series all obtain their ground through the PC and are not isolated in any way. Therefore if you are going to measure mains I would recommend using an isolating voltage probe to make this safer. We have a X10/X100 isolating probe, which you can view information on here:

Hope this helps

thank you for your reply, but are there no galvanic isolators for a Usb cable? so I can use the two probes supplied by the scope.

Hi

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately we do not supply isolators as you describe. I would recommend that the main safe way of isloating would be to use an isolating probe. This is also advisable due to the Low Voltage Directive.

Hope this helps

we were indeed planning on using such a trafo, but our power supply in my application wont't function with a transformer.
