How to control vertical range of Spectral Mode?

Post by talktronics »

I've been using 5244B for performance measurements of an amplifier used for position controller. Looking at the noise levels, in Spectral Mode, there are situations where the baseline of the spectral plot (x-axis) is chopped off. There does not seem to be a way to set the vertical axis range from min to max in order to see the baseline. Possibly this is a resolution problem, maybe the signal falls below the noise floor of instrument. But the behaviour seems inconsistent. See attached print that shows what I mean. Is there a way to control the vertical range displayed in spectral mode?

As its just off the screen try dragging up the left hand axis with the mouse to reveal more. Another option is to click on the x1 icon at the bottom left, from this you can set a zoom of say 0.9 to reveal more.

If that does not work, let us know and we will find another solution.

The UI cuts off the spectrum. Scaling and offsetting does not change anything.

I was hoping there was a response to this. I have the same problem. Picoscope-6

Exporting the spectrum data shows the full range

Hi michael.clarage,

Could you post a psdata file so that we can accurately quantify the signal levels in both views to determine if this is an issue.

Hi talktronics,

I have had some difficulty reproducing what you are seeing in 5000 series PicoScopes. Have you had a chance to follow Alans suggestions, to verify if you still have an issue?

As Michael pointed out, scaling, etc. does not change the situation.

Hi talktronics,

Scaling doesn't change the situation for Michael, but I needed to know if it changed the situation for you, because now that i know that it doesn't I can ask you to post a psdata file so that we can try and replicate what you are seeing. The issue is that this problem doesn't appear to be easily reproduced, on different 5000 series PicoScopes.
