4262 vs. 5242A for audio work

Post by teemumm »

I have been looking for a scope for audio work. Mainly I would need this to measure frequency responses and THD. What is the difference between Picoscope 4262 and 5242A for this work? The price seems to be more or less the same, but 5242A has much wider bandwidth so it could be used in other things also. Is there some drawback in audio work if I buy 5242A instead of 4262? Both scopes have 16-bit resolution, so is there some differences in THD-measurement precision? I don't need AWG.

Hi,

The 4262 and 5242A both have 16 bit resolution,
but the 5242A can only use one channel while 16 bit resolution is selected.

The 5242A does have a faster sampling rate

16 bit mode has a sampling rate of 62.5MS/s.

While the 4262 only has 10MS/s sampling rate.

Please let me know if you require additional information.
