I am looking for a spectrum analyzer that is capable of both real time and data logged audio analysis. The unit would have to be capable of high resolution recording and the software would need to provide data for use to analyze gasoline engine exhaust noise character. Portability is important but not essential to its operation.

Hi

Thank you for your post

Our best PC based oscilloscope for audio analysis is our ADC-216 as this is a high resolution 16 bit unit. It has 2 channels and a spectrum bandwidth of 166kHz (83kHz when both channels are active).

The Picoscope software will enable you to see real-time trace views and also real- time signal analysis. It cannot unfortunately perform signal analysis on saved data, you would have to do this yourself.

If you wish to record the data you can set a repeat trigger and get it to save on trigger so that it saves the file each time a trigger event occurs. The other way to record the data is to use our Picolog software which will record the raw voltage input values.

More information on our ADC-216 unit can be found on our website at:

Hope this helps

Best Regards
