Voltage Limit

Post by onpiopah »

Hi I have read all the posts but as I am very new to using a scope I am still a little bit unsure and do not want to damge it.

I have just purchased a 2205 scope and 60mhz probe from yourselves and wish to measure 30 - 40volts. From reading the posts I get the idea that i can do this by flicking the switch on the probe to x10 and setting the probe drop down on the software to x10 - is that it then done and safe to measure my 40volts? or do I have to do anything else

thanks for your reply

Yes that is correct and by setting the x10 switch in the software as well as the probe you will read the correct values on the screen.

Even if you accidentally connected to 40V with the x1 setting you would not damage the scope as it has 100V protection.
