Monitor the quality of mains power.

Post by bennog »

Hello,

I want to monitor the quality of the mains power supply for.
For measuring I have 2 options.
1. Use a transformer.
2. Use a differential probe.

I will probably go for option 2 because I also want to see spikes and short dips.

Is there a good way to trigger on the following.
1. short dip anywhere in the sine wave.
2. Top or bottom part of sine get below 10% of the normal top value.
3. Missing part of sine.

I also want to see a couple of sine waves before and after the event.

You could do something with masks but then you can not see the complete sample crossed the mask boundary

So actually I think I need 2 triggers 1 zero crossing on the sine wave. 2 Hitting the mask boundary on the triggered signal

Hi bennog,

You might like to view the video on Advanced Trigger features in PicoScope 6:

You might be interested in triggers like the Runt and Window trigger for triggers 1 and 2.

You can adjust the marker for the trigger point in the PicoScope window in order to allow for pre and post trigger samples.

I hope this helps.
