Pressure Sensing with DrDAQ

Post by swanpic »

Hi
Does anyone have a suggestion for monitoring the water mains pressure?
Ideally I would like something that could be attached to an open cold mains water tap.
We are having trouble here in Swanage with mains supply overloaded from time to time with caravan site usage.
And I would like to get some figures.
Has someone perhaps adapted a strain gauge for the purpose(?)
An 'old drip' would be very grateful for any solutions!

Hi,

Did you ever solve this problem?

I'm looking for a way to measure water pressure too, and am struggling to find a cost-effective solution. Ideally I just want something I can attach to a BSP that'll give a 0-5V output or similar.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi,

Did you have any success with this project in the end?

I am similarly looking for a water pressure transducer of some sort, but they are all looking horribly expensive!

Thanks,

Mark.

You may be able to use a fuel pressure transducer from a petrol car* (try eBay or a boot-sale) - something that can handle 8-10 bar (water mains is said to be 4 bar - dependent on supplier and site)

You will need to apply a voltage for the sensor to work - check that the DrDAQ may be able to supply this alone.

(*Even though a fuel sensor is liquid capable, water may corrode it over time, causing failure or skewed results)
