Using aux trigger

Post by danielvg »

Hello,

I am using a PicoScope 6403, and I am very interested on using the external trigger input as a trigger for the scope. I have tried using PicoScope6 software with following trigger settings:
- Simple Edge
- Source: AuxIO
- Threshold: 500mV

But I cannot get the trigger working with any signal applied in this input.

Please, could you give me some information about using this external trigger?

Thank you.
Kind regards.

The signal has to go through the trigger point, if is constantly above the trigger value it will not trigger.

ziko, I am using a square wave signal with several amplitudes (e.g 1V peak-peak, between 0V and 1V) but the scope is not triggering. If I use this signal in any of the common channels (channelA..channelD) and I configure the trigger accordingly, the trigger works. But not in AuxIO channel.

Any other ideas about this problem?

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards.

Hi, i also have this problem. I can trig on any órdinary input channel but not on auxio, also, the marker for trigger point does not show. Didi you have a solution? I have a picoscope 6400.

Best regards

I have tried a 3404B with 6.6.50 and 6.7.15, it triggers as expected. I will try with a 6000 series tomorrow.

The trigger diamond isn't shown because it wouldn't relate to the traces on screen.

The test with the 6402B worked with both versions of the software as well.

What value trigger level are you using and what signal are you putting into the device ?

The trigger signal is 5V hi and going to 0V is my trigging event. I use single falling edge trigger at 4V when working fine on ordinary channels. Tested 0.1 to 4.9 V on auxio but traces just updates at the set trigger point.

The Aux input for the 6000 series has an input impedance of 50 Ω. You will need to look at the output impedence of the signal generator you are using and, if not 50 Ω, match the impedance or adjust the trigger levels accordingly.
