Saving waveforms as images

Post by tloten »

Hi.

New picoscope 5203 user here, im rather impressed with the general quality of the software (especially compared to some of the other brands out there!).

However, I have a few questions:

1) When copying the image to the clipboard (or saving to disk as a png, bmp etc), is it possible to change the size of the image? It always seems to be 800x600, but it would be nice if it used the current size of the window.

2) As above, but is it possible to have the current measurements included in the image? I noticed that when printing, the measurements are included - something like that would be ideal.

3) In the 6.5.42 pre-release, there is a bug when using 'Save Current waveform' - it actually saves the previous waveform in the buffer. So if I were currently looking at waveform 7, it would actually save waveform 6!

Thanks again for a great product!

Thank you for your feedback, I have put your suggestion through. In terms of the problem regarding saving the current waveform, which product did you use and what where your settings? Could you send me a .pssettings file? I cannot recreate this problem on my computer.

Hi,
Thanks for that :)

I've attached the pssettings file.

I've been able to replicate the problem exactly:
1. Open 6.5.42 Pre-release.
2. Use the 5203 demo device (note it also does it for real devices).
3. Let the buffers fill up.
4. Press spacebar (stop).
5. Ensure that waveforms 31 and 32 look different.
6. Ensure you are viewing waveform 32.
7. Click 'File->Save current waveform as'.
8. Save as a PNG file.
9. View the PNG file. It should be waveform 31.

I did a further test - saving waveform 1 actually saves waveform 1. Saving waveform 2 also saves waveform 1.

Hope this helps. Again, note this only occurs on the 6.5.42 pre-release.

Hi,

Is there any news on the screen-shot options?
Until the current measurements are included in the image, and the screen-shot size can be changed (in the options menu, or perhaps it could use the current window size), my colleauges refuse to use it. Otherwise it is too much of a hassle remove the stupid menus/buttons/etc from the whole screen image.

Hi the latest software fixes the problem with saving the current waveform (where it would store the previous waveform), this is 6.5.77 which is available to download now:

www.picotech.com/software.html

In terms of the screen res and measurements these have not been modified. It is on the list of things to do.

Kind regards
