Is there some way to monitor voltages outside the plus & minus 20 Volt input range of the 2104 ? Perhaps an accessory 10:1 attenuation tip for the probe???
Thankyou for your inquiry with regard your 2104 and associated attenuation inquiry.
PicoScope has a built-in library of common probe types, such as the x1 and x10 voltage probes used with most oscilloscopes, but if your probe is not included in this list you can use the Custom Probes dialog to define a new one. Custom probes can have any voltage range within the capabilities of the oscilloscope, display in any units, and have either linear or nonlinear characteristics.
Custom probe definitions are particularly useful when you wish to display the probe's output in units other than volts, or to apply linear or nonlinear corrections to the data. Click Tools on the Menu bar and select custom probes.
My 2104 has no way I can see to change probes as the probe is part of the USB cable that plugs into the computer. The attenuator is also not usable for the same reason. The only thing I could see would be for the attenuation to be in the replaceable tip of the probe.
Is there a attenuator tip for my 2104 PicoScope available?
In the accessory kit of the 2104 is an in-line adabtor which can be directly coupled to the scope. Once the in-line adaptor is connected you will need to purchase a female to female bnc adpabtor. Please proceed to link below.
Once you have connected the female to female apabtor you know can connect a standard 10:1 scope probe ( see pictures attached)
A point to note is that the 2104 or 2105 hand-held scope was not designed to be used with a scope probe because the input capacitance changes depending on the voltage range. At worst case scenario trimming will be required.
Due to the low voltage directive you must not under any circumstances measure mains voltages and finally if your scope is incorrectly earthed it could cause damage to your P.C.
