Changing the Y-Axis

Post by matt »

Hi all,

I am using the 2205 PC Scope to measure voltage but I would like display current vs time instead of volts vs time. Using Ohms law I can calculate the current from the voltage but I was wondering if there is a way of changing the Y-Axis in the Picoscope 6 software to show current instead of volts?

Kind regards,

Matt

Matt,

The easiest way to do that would be to use a current probe. This would pick up the current in the circuit inductively and provide a proportional voltage to the scope. Then just create a custom probe within PicoScope that will provide you with a current scaling. We use them a lot in automotive work.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

The current I a trying to measure is nA. Would the probes be sensitive enough to detect this?

Thanks

Nope. 10mA min for the low current probe.

You can create a custom probe for that channel in PicoScope6 to do the conversion from V to I. Search for "Custom Probes dialog" in the help file in PicoScope6.

Or you can look it up in the help file contents panel.
Menus -> Tools menu -> Custom Probes....
