PS 2203 Audio Analyzer

Post by Henk »

Hello,
i've got a PicoScope 2203 and use the software 6.2.2. I want to use this device as an audio analyser. 1-20.000 Hz. Until now I do not get any satisfiable results. Can you please send me default settings for this application and perhaps some practicable hints? I would like that the screen refreshs as frequently as possible. But it reacts very lazy. The trace needs more than 10 sec. to show the spectrum more or less well. But i'm shure not to find the right settings  . Thank you a lot for your efforts.

Hi

Try this settings file.

As you are looking at low frequencies, you will be using long time bases, so screen updates will be less frequent than for shorter time bases.

If you use time bases of 500 ms/div and longer, the scope will go in to slow streaming mode, where the trace is drawn across the screen.

To get a good spectrum plot, you need a large number of samples. This will take quite a long time when using low sample rates. If 10 sec is too long, adjust the max frequency and the number of bins.

I hope this helps

I believe the audio analyzer functions of picoscope are not mature. I'm using AP system in the office & picoscope at home. The output of the sweep generator is suggested to be sync. with the measurement input with precise tracking filter to perform the SSR measurement.

Hi our devices are not designed to be competing with dedicated spectrum analysers, it is a software FFT on the signal coming in. Whilst the spectrum view we provide can do many things, you would need a dedicated unit designed for those purposes if you wanted to look at more detail.

Kind regards
