Suitability of 4444 for dB sound level recording ?

Post by nurber »

Hi Forum. I have some condenser microphones ( supercardioid polar pattern ) that I'm wondering about using for sound level measures with either PS7 or Picolog. My question is perhaps best answered by audio experts but I figured to try hear first. I don't need super accurate and can probably borrow or even purchase an inexpensive calibrator although the ones I've seen have seem to have cylindrical shape into which you insert the meter which won't work for the microphones that I have which look like more conventional "studio" microphones. One motivator for using oscilloscope is ability to datalog & remote monitoring which seems very limited with inexpensive sound level meters (slm). Some inexpensive slm have an output jack which looks encouraging for connecting to scope and recording, but they all operate on batteries and need week at a time operation. Suppose I could fit some kind of AC adapter to 4xAAA power adapter, but maybe something simper ?

Thanks, Sven
