I am struggling to produce a Rising Edge Count using the Measurements tool.
I can get a count if I only select the start of the trace, but once I select more of the trace with the rulers the count just disappears.... any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Unfortunately there is a limit to the number of edges that can be counted (which is 10,480) so once you go past that there is no total count to show. This appears to be an error which I will pass on to our development team.
Having said that, the limit that you are seeing (of 93) is because you are trying to count either just a few edges at the start, or a huge number of edges across the whole waveform. You can get significantly more rising edges counted if you pick up and move the right side of the zoom box in the Zoom overview so that you can then pick and move the right measurement ruler part of the way along the Timebase. The part can be any point up to, but not exceeding the 10.48E3 limit (as previously mentioned). So, as an example, I've moved it roughly half way along, as shown in the image below.
This allows you to use a simple workaround to the problem by just taking 2 measurements and adding them together.
So next you need to make a note of the count for the first half (which you can do in PicoScope 6 by clicking on notes and entering the value) and then close the zoom overview. Then you can then just drag the left measurement ruler to the end of the waveform to get the second part of the count to add to the first (as shown in the image below).
So, in my example measurement of your waveform, the rising edge count is 16,067.
Many thanks for your reply. It would be good if this could be fixed in the future.
We managed to get round it ny exporting as a CSV file and then counting the rising edges (with some simple maths) in Excel, but I will try as you have suggested as that is much quicker.
