Number of FFT spectrum bins

Post by edziekon »

Hello,
Is there any way to increase the number of FFT spectrum bins proportionally up to the number of samples collected on the PicoScope? I have a 5444D scope that can record up to 512MS. Why am I limited to 2^20 spectrum bins? Based on the model, can you update this so that I may select up to 2^27 spectrum bins (134,217,728). 2^28 spectrum bins would require more than the available memory.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

There is a logical reason as to why there is an upper limit to the number of bins in our FFT plot (which will be related to a resource, or time, e.g. the reasonable limit for the amount of calculations that can be done, in real-time, on a representative processing platform, or legacy restrictions, e.g. the upper limit of the FFT size for the library being used).

I can put in a new feature request to see if that limit can be extended however, due to workload, this may not get considered for a while.
